My uncle was nearly legally blind and he got it done(7 yrs ago) and he doesnt use glasses or contacts, but he still get routine eye exams(yearly). Some ppl need to get surgery every 7-10 yrs but that could get expensive(but does getting new lenses or contacts) Just make sure you find a really good dr. Sometimes the surgery can over-correct your eyes. And it doesnt correct astigmatism. But I hear that it is really safe and not very many side affects.Good Luck.
