Lasik Starbursts
Wednesday, July 6th, 2011STARBURST NIGHT VISION?
Just curious as to who else see’s starbursts at night??
I had Lasik Eye Surgery done 1 month ago, and I see alot of starbursts….every light imaginable. cars. streetlights. clocks glow. house lights glow. everything…
Its very frustrating…especially since i didnt see this before with my contacts and glasses!!
They should have explained to you (and probably did) that after your Lasik Surgery, you will experience a lot more glare than you are used to. This includes the starbursts around lights.
However, this will go away with time. It is just one of the side effects of the surgery because you literally damaged a few layers of cells on the front of your eye, where they made the flap on your eye to do the actual surgery. Since those cells are damaged and not clear like they used to be, they catch light and scatter it, causing glare.
Like I said, this is just temporary and can last for up to a few months After Lasik surgery until your eye fully heals. Depending on how good your surgeon was, your eye doctor (optometrist) may or may not see a bit of scarring on your eye with the high-powered microscope. Again, this is totally normal and shouldn’t affect your vision at all once it is fully healed.
So nothing to be concerned about; this is normal. Don’t worry.
Just had Lasik & Thank You!
