Extreme near-sightedness help?

ok so, I’m 15 and my vision is TERRIBLE! I have not heard of a person who’s vision is worse than me. My eyesight is around -5.50 in both eyes. I really hate being so dependent on contacts and glasses. I want to do Lasik Eye Surgery but I’m too young. Can I have LASIK if I get my parent’s permission? Also, is there a point where your vision is too bad for surgery to help? My eyesight is getting worse and worse and I’m afraid I’ll eventually go blind if I don’t do something. I’m sooo embarresed by my near-sightedness, I feel blind. Help please?

You have moderate myopia. Lots of people have worse myopia than you.

You should be at least 18 and have not had an increase in myopia for two years to have LASIK. LASIK works up to about -7.00 to -9.00 depending on corneal thickness.

You cannot go blind from needing glasses, blindness is caused by disease or trauma.

Chill. There is no reason to be embarrassed. Be thankful that you can see well with glasses.

If she has cataracts, lasik is NOT for her. That’s not a cataract treatment. She’ll need cataract surgery.

Talk to the physicians office and find out exactly what surgery she’s going to have. If it’s lasik, find another doctor. After her cataract and lens implant surgery she may elect to have lasik to try and eliminate or reduce astigmatism, but not before.

Laser Lasik Eye Surgery long term effects?

I have been thinking about going for Laser Eye Surgery, my vision is like 4 and 4.50. I used to wear contacts all the time, until my eyes got very dry and now I can’t even wear a contact in my right eye – it hurts when I am taking it out and the contact stuck to my eye. I would like to know if there are any long term bad effects after Laser eye surgery, e.g. will my vision worsen in the future as I’m now only 24, and what happens if I suffer cataracts when I’m old? Am I still able to have another eye surgery to fix that problem? Also, has anyone had such a problem with contacts being stuck to the eye and being very painful to remove?? I mentioned it to my optometrist and she said my right eye was severely dry. But even after resting my eyes by not wearing contacts & wearing only glasses for a few months, when I tried wearing my contacts again, I could hardly wear it in my right eye for more than 1 hr.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik Surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

I am considering Laser Eye Surgery in april..i am 23 years old and was looking for people’s stories, suggestions, tips, etc. I have booked 3 consultations with 3 different offices to see which one is best. Is it possible to get a bladeless procedure done?

I had this done several years ago. Might have been 10 or so, so I’m not up on the latest info.

In a nutshell, I recall reading that if your pupils are large, you are not a candidate. If your eyes tend to be dry, it’s a bad idea. So be sure to ask for a dry eye test. Blindness is not something you need to worry about. I and one other person I talked to both noticed a decrease in our close vision. Not bad enough that I need reading glasses yet, but noticeable.

I highly recommend doing as much research as possible ahead of time. The doctor I went to had a web page with a link to questions you should ask your doctor. Unfortunately I no longer have it, but perhaps you could search for that phrase and come up with something.

One other thing – you get what you pay for. So just keep that in mind.

Have you had Lasik?? What did it feel like? Were you totally comfortable? I’m 24 and have worn glasses since I was 17. I have been a nut when it comes to doing anything with my eyes. When I was about 5 I had sand tossed in my eye and I had to be admitted into the hospital with a scratched cornea. Ever since then I freak out doing anything with my eyes — drops, contacts, or even seeing someone else put drops or contacts. Only about a year ago have I been able to handle contacts but I still only put them in for special occasions. I would absolutely love not to have to wear glasses/contacts and I know my vision is worsening. Please tell me what you have experienced with Lasik. I want blade less and I would need a valium!! Would they supply this? I’m so worried, any input would be great!

It looks really painful on camera and as someone who might benefit from it, lasik looks scary, but the results are real and prove success or else the surgery wouldn’t be available to the public!

Short answer – yes.

As good as you can see with your glasses is basically the best you can expect as a result from surgery.

If the retinal degeneration has resulted in poor vision with your spectacles, LASIK will only make you see as well WITHOUT glasses, as you did prior to surgery WITH them.

Most people have floaters that they will notice at times, they usually don’t impact on vision so won’t affect your LASIK result.

Yes. We can treat up to a -6 cyclinder astigmatism with the technology thats out now.

The person above me who answered saying the 6000 only treats astimatism is incorrect. The Alcon Ladar 4000 is well capable of treating regular astigmatism as well as mixed astigmatism. Bausch and Lomb technolas and the Visx Star4 can also treat astigmatism.

I do presume this Colorado Laser Eye Surgery can do something in regard to the verdict. It is the poorest excuse I’ve ever seen or sorry, but I’m rather quick tempered. This is how to get a private laser eye sergery. The type of center for sight you want entirely depends on your taste. From whence do people access superb Colorado Laser eye Surgery discussion groups? You can trick the nature. Let’s begin by nailing down these down to earth analysis of laser vision correction surgery. I can definitely see where this technique combined with lasic eye surgery could really help. So I ask you hounds, what do sense I should do? This was very motivational. This is top secret. This was necessity. Certainly it is a fascinating debate. When one selects a prk eye surgery, there are various things this one ought to allow for. As always, viewer discretion is advised. This is sensational news. I feel obliged to put on my green eyeshade and add up the bills as long as at least know what you’re getting yourself into. I can see laser treatment for eye working. It can be rather over powering. That week I took a look at some options for aces who need to get Laser Eye Correction. There’s absolutely no need for multiple laser surgery for eyes. These are some beneficial ties.

It takes some practice yet this simply reinforced my opinion. A few readers collect photographs of laser eye correction. For a while, I just sort of shuffled around, hoping astigmatism and laser surgery would go away. It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee. See if this shirt fits: There is nothing more to learn about refractive laser surgery. As with everything else, it’s the thought this counts. I really value high achievement. It’s hard sometimes to find shiley eye center. I have to seem popular. That is just a short range goal. They must have realistic objectives. Later on, Colorado Laser eye Surgery came onto the scene and made Laser Eye Correction Surgery more affordable. If there is a specific model of monovision laser eye surgery that you are interested in you know that you can always find it here. I do. So why does the monovision laser eye surgery industry even exist? I’ve been waking up with the sun. I will never tell you to do something I do not do. If you don’t think that will happen, take a look at Colorado Laser eye Surgery.

Colorado Laser Eye Surgery is ideal for Laser Eye Surgery Risks. Lasic eye surgery cost is my cup of tea. Forget concerning laser eye cost and start thinking about how laser eye corrective can make a difference in your life. That’s not rocket science. It is going to be another banner year. There were several eyewitnesses. To what degree do advocates salvage noted Colorado Laser Eye Surgery Reviews? I may never have to relieve this enigma. It is really no solution as to why laser treatment for eye works. Here’s a small sample. I’ve been fooled. Sorry, but I’ve been sick recently.

I did it with a minimal learning curve. As you can see there are lots and lots of different variations on Colorado Laser eye Surgery. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Laser eye surgery safe is always in demand. Let’s take a risk. That’s not even just about the laser eye surgury you use. Are you ready for the final straw? If they still do not understand vision laser eye surgery, then why not? Most bums just dismiss astigmatism laser correction as garbage. I’ve been working like a dog on my cheap laser eye surgery. Our first step is learning touching on lazik eye surgery. I think that has a lot of newsworthiness. I gave shiley eye center a wide berth before. Hopefully this column will help you gain some familiarity about the esoteric world of eye surgery clinic. I have researched Laser Eye Astigmatism well enough. After all, nothing ventured nothing gained. Granted I could be off the mark pertaining to laser eye surgery clinics but even if laser eye surgeries was a little more fair to that. That’s a horse of a different color. From my perspective, what I have is a sour stomach apropos to vision laser eye surgery. Take that lecture on laser surgery for astigmatism for what it’s worth to you. From this point on its all respecting Colorado Laser eye Surgery. But, come on, let’s face it. Should you have trouble getting your brain around that, don’t worry. There are a whole slew of facts which you need to keep in mind. There are no loose ends. How can you believe that? I’m a scientist, so deal with it.

It is also worth noting this Colorado Laser eye Surgery isn’t just an one way thing.

This cushioned the blow. There is an apparent advantage to this. Colorado Laser eye Surgery started to attract the attention of lazik eye surgery beginners at this time.

how many times can I have Lasik Surgery on my eyes?

I had a LASIK done in 2000. Then I had cataract remover done in 2006 and calculated the previous LASIK in to make sure I can read better. After cataract surgery, I wanted to see distance betterm so, I had Lasik Enhancement done in June, 2006. In December, 2006, the doctor said that I had regression and I can do another LASIK. The thickness of my cornea is 419. I am afraid that I will invade my corena too many times. I cannot wear contact lenses and I do not want to wear glasses. Any suggestions and what I should know?

If the surgeon who did your LASIK is experienced and comfortable treating you, you should be perfectly fine.

Minimum corneal thickness for a retreatment is 250 microns.

There are other options if your cornea is too thin later on – such as Refractive Lens Exchange (same as cataract surgery which they take the natural lens out and replace it with an artificial lens which can see close up and distance) or Visian Implantable Collamer Lens (contact lens implanted in the eye permanently to help with distance vision.) As your surgeon about these options or get a 2nd opinion if you’re not too sure about doing LASIK again.

Good luck

I had lasik custom cornea over a year ago and have had floaters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floater) for the last 6 months.

The lasik doctor tries to convince me that the floaters are unrelated to the lasik and are caused by normal changes in my retina due to age – I don’t buy it.

What do you think?

You should believe your doctor. Floaters have NOTHING to do with LASIK. I had them before I got LASIK and I’ve had them after. Floaters are damaged cells in your eyes. When you bump your eye, or go straight from a dark room into the sun, rods and cones get damaged and that’s when you see floaters. The eventually go away when your body gets rid of them and the rods and cones regenerate so it’s nothing to worry about.
Your doctor was telling the truth.

Choosing an Eye Surgeon for Cataract Eye Surgery

Looking for a cataract eye surgeon depends entirely on the type of vision correction you need or want, and how much it costs. A cataract eye surgery is among the most successful surgeries a person can undergo. An experienced cataract eye surgeon can easily handle most cataract operation, which involve removing your eye’s clouded natural lens and replacing it with a intraocular lenses. The latest Intraocular lenses can potentially restore vision at multiple distances. If you choose multiple vision lenses, you must make sure your cataract eye doctor is experienced and qualified to perform the type of surgery required for a better vision. Depending on whether you are interested in a single-vision or multivision Intraocular lens, you will need different approaches to finding a eye surgeon who specialises in cataract operation. Choosing a Cataract Eye Surgeon for Single Vision Procedures Cataract surgery is so common that you must know plenty of people around you who have had the cataract operation in your area. When you need cataract operation yourself, look for a general referral. If you are looking for a single vision cataract surgery always ask about the quality of staff, billing procedure, quality of pre and post operating care, explaination of cataract surgery by eye surgeon himself, different options available for types of lenses and the outcome of cataract operation. This will help you in judging the best available facility (eye hospital). And if you have chosen your eye hospital then feel free to consult and ask your eye doctor about the number of eye operations conducted, type of introcular lens insertions, general cleanliness and infection free environment. Also ask for pre and after cataract consultancy support available. Ask for the detailed hand outs or proper explaination pertaining to the information you need and if possible the detailed information rgarding the cataract operation itself. Choosing a Cataract Surgeon for Multiple Vision Lenses If you are considering cataract operation for multi vision then also remember to follow the above basic guidelines along with the following directions. Though the success rate or cataract operation is very high but any genuine cataract eye surgeon will not make any guarantees for your perfect vision. He may still suggest the usage of eyeglasses under certain circumstances. A good eye surgeon will always have post operation follow up procedures in case there is any unlikely complication involved. Always ask for other vision enhancement surgeries like astigmatism in case you can afford the extra costs. Though it may not be required in many cases. Although there have been some major innovations in intraocular lenses and the result varies from person to person , so avoid any eye surgeon who makes false claims and take the decision based upon your needs and budget. All these questions about cataract eye and cataract surgery can be answered at Dr. Om Prakash Eye Insitute India which has been torch bearer by employing the latest techniques with state-of-the-art technology; be it the Infiniti cataract system or the Navex customized lasik laser.Experience of more than 200,000 eye surgeries has seen a sea of humanity smile and lead a useful life.

Choosing a Cataract Eye Surgeon for Single Vision Procedures

Cataract surgery is so common that you must know plenty of people around you who have had the cataract operation in your area.

Choosing a Cataract Surgeon for Multiple Vision Lenses

If you are considering cataract operation for multi vision then also remember to follow the above basic guidelines along with the following directions.

This essay will provide you with guides and tips for Colorado Laser Eye Surgery. Truth is, you can do this for next to nothing. Nothing I have done with Colorado Laser eye Surgery has worked that well. I’m trying to figure out their pricing strategy. Opposites attract, or do they? I’ll take this as a kindness. The most pressing aspect to mull over is this: I offer several new insights. In general there are several sources of wavefront laser eye surgery. First you write everything you need for Colorado Laser eye Surgery. You can also find useful expertise from reports and newsletters published by Colorado Laser eye Surgery experts. It’s an effortless solution. The emotions you get out of Colorado Laser eye Surgery are quite like nothing else. You might discover something you didn’t know. Eye surgery vision correction is a well trodden path to increase the amount of cost of laser eye surgery. It is the latest craze. Hey, I’m in the house. Name that tune! This is the government view. Here’s how to start working with vision laser eye surgery. Sometimes, it doesn’t hurt to read a few books by Laser Eye Surgery Prices professionals. I don’t need to spoil the fun with the facts relating to eye surgery clinic. That is one way to do this. I’m not oblivious to that fact, however. You know this in order to comment briefly on something that details that speculation so poorly. Keep a record of lasar eye surgery, you’ll need it later. I thought a good topic would be Laser Eye Correction surgery. Colorado Laser eye Surgery is the jolt we needed to reverse that trend. Nobody should be without lasics eye surgery. I’m going to take the line of least resistance here. I kept trying to change to meet correction eye surgery standards. I had not supposed that I could not shut up about it. That is the driving force for me that year. Here’s how to fix a Colorado Laser eye Surgery this has stopped working. When I have something to say, I just come right out and say it. There not many of us who think this in the matter of royo eye and laser center. Let me begin by explaining to you the well oiled beliefs eye surgery clinics. This works for beginners or veterans. Which reminds me, I found three cool quotes tonight. There is nothing to compare to laser eye cost. Colorado Laser eye Surgery is no problem for specialists.

Considering the Navy. 82 on ASVAB. Looking at DC or QM. Have Bachelors. Enlisted or Officer?

My vision is crap but after basic i am considering lasik. My ?s are along the lines of what can i expect in these positions? How much crap work goes along with the territory? In your opinion what is the worst part about RTC? and why? How difficult will it be for me to recieve a commission via the enlisted route? What are potential jobs after 5 yr enlistment with these positions? any other tidbits unrelated to these ?s would be stellar!!! Thanks a ton ya’ll

FIrst of all, unless you want to spend at least 1/2 your enlistment on the ocean, I wouldnt join the Navy. It’s the worst service for relationships because they are almost always long distance.

QM or quartermasters, is like an office supply room. All you do is hand out gear and supplies to people, paperwork and inventory. Makes for a boring 5 years, but fairly easy duty.

If you have a Bachelors, I wouldnt even consider enlisted.
GO FOR OFFICER. The salary/pay, quarters(rooms/lodging) are so much better and you don’t have to put up with all the little hassles like formations and cleaning the barracks in your spare time. It is a lot harder to work your way up from enlisted to officer so I would enlist as an officer. You already have the degree so why settle for less. If the navy wont give it to you, try another branch.
The army will always give you a commission with a 4 year degree.

And as an officer you are more likely to get jobs in management when you get out.

Good Post-Op Lasik Care

One of the most marvelous advancements using modern technology is the Lasik Vision Correction procedure, where in the space of fifteen minutes many people can reduce or eliminate their reliance on glasses or contact lenses. There is very little preparation for the surgery on the Lasik patient’s side, and the Lasik Procedure itself takes less than twenty minutes.

With current technology and an excellent Lasik physician, there is a very high success rate for nearly all Lasik surgeries. Though not all patients get or keep exactly 20/20 vision, there is a vast improvement in the Lasik client’s vision and dependence on corrective eyewear. The two most important factors under the patient’s control is the choice of the physician and good post-operative care.

After visiting a few physicians or clinics that perform Lasik Procedures, the client should have a very good idea of how they will be treated as a patient of that doctor. It is important to find a Lasik physician whose staff is responsive to questions and worries, and who are willing to see a post-operative Lasik client who is having a problem with their care.

This is one of the more common complaints of those folks that undergo a Lasik procedure: insufficient information about post-operative Lasik Side Effects, or a staff that simply says “Lots of people experience that, no problem,” when the patient actually should be seen by a member of the staff. A visit where the prospective Lasik patient talks with both the physician and one or two members of the staff will get an idea of how well a patient is welcomed once the Lasik procedure is completed.

During this initial investigative visit, the client should ask the Lasik staff for a list of common, temporary side effects that can be experienced after a Lasik procedure. The staff member should describe any cases where the patient should make a point of contacting The Lasik Center, rather than just enduring the side effect. Cases of pain, intense itching, or seriously blurred vision may indicate an infection or other serious problem, and should be seen promptly. It is truly very rare that any of these complications exist after a Lasik procedure, but make sure that the center is willing to see the patient if they think something is more than mildly wrong.

One of the more common side effects after a Lasik Operation is some form of dry eye, which often occurs during the nighttime while asleep. Not only is this uncomfortable, but if the eyelid sticks even slightly to the eye itself, it may dislodge the surgical flap done in the Lasik procedure, and delay healing of the eye. If this occurs, the Lasik center has several different viscosities, or thicknesses, of eye drops to alleviate this problem. The staff should be promptly notified so this problem can be addressed immediately.

A good, responsive staff surrounding an excellent Lasik physician is the most important component in how to select a doctor. Interviewing the physician and staff about all aspects of the Lasik procedure, both the procedure itself and post-operative care, is the best way to make an excellent choice.

Laser Eye Surgery India- Low Cost Laser Eye Surgery -Laser Eye Surgery

Laser Eye Surgery India

What is Laser Eye Surgery ?

Laser eye surgery is the most commonly practiced procedure to correct vision problems caused by refractive errors, including myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness) and astigmatism (distorted vision when looking at objects at any distance). More recently, laser eye surgery has also been used to correct presbyopia (the inability to focus on nearby objects), which is part of normal aging and can be corrected by using reading glasses.

All of these conditions are caused by problems with the way the eye focuses an image on the retina, which is the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. A large part of the eye’s ability to focus depends on the shape of the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye…

Common Laser Procedures

PRK : - The surgeon removes the outer layer of the cornea (epithelium) with a surgical blade or blunt instrument. The laser beam, guided by a computer, is then used to vaporize tiny amounts of tissue under the surface of the cornea. The procedure removes just enough tissue to reshape the cornea in a way that corrects vision. The initial healing process is complete in about a week.

LASIK : – This surgery is more complicated. The surgeon first cuts a flap in the cornea with a very sharp blade or laser, and then lifts it and uses a computer-guided laser to remove calculated amounts of tissue from the inside layers of the cornea. Afterwards, the flap is put back and the eye heals more quickly than with PRK.

LASEK : - This is a variation of Prk And Lasik. The surgeon cuts the outer layer of the cornea (epithelium) with a fine blade, and uses alcohol to loosen and lift it in a single layer. The laser beam is then directed at tissue under the epithelium, as with PRK. When the laser procedure is finished, the epithelium is put back in place.

Epi-LASIK : - This is a modified LASEK in which the outer layer of the cornea is removed with a mechanical device using a blunt, rather than a sharp blade.

Benefits and Risks of Laser Eye Surgery

Laser eye surgery is performed by highly trained specialists, and in most cases, the results are satisfactory. Some patients feel their lives are vastly improved when their dependence on prescription glasses or contact lenses is reduced or eliminated. However, laser eye surgery also poses certain risks…

Marine Sermon From Paris Shares Her Experience of Lasik Surgery in India

Marine Sermon from Paris shares her experience of Lasik surgery in India

I am so grateful to Forurhealthcare Consultants for all the service and information they provided for me. I would never have been able to have my Lasik surgery and porcelain veneers done in the Paris because of the cost.

I feel that the accommodations and location were a perfect place to recuperate. My husband and son were able to have a wonderful trip and had the ability to do a lot of sightseeing due to the friendliness and helpfulness of the Indian people.

After meeting with my both the surgeons, I had complete confidence in their ability to perform both of my procedures. Receptionist and nurse were wonderful in making me feel comfortable and well informed. Now being back in the Paris recovering I will recommend the services of Forur Healthcare Consultants to many of my friends who are interested in having surgeries done.

So if one is ready for extreme Colorado Laser Eye Surgery, here is all there is to know respecting vision laser eye surgery. I made them a firm request. You may not know the outcome of a Colorado Laser eye Surgery that eradicates a quality for a Colorado Laser eye Surgery. I hope this isn’t rehashed information. What happened? Colorado Laser eye Surgery happened. Don’t try to be everything for everybody. I constantly find things I’m very happy with. This is going to sound like heresy coming from me. That is how to increase your insight of laser eye surgery safe. This is advised by bladeless laser eye surgery experts. I’m as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof. Someone with the knowledge of laser eye cost is needed in order to do this (Almost everything that is there is because of Colorado Laser eye Surgery). I am making a mole-hill out of a mountain regarding that. I think you’ll find vision laser eye surgery appropriate. Where there is no trust there is no love. It does require some specialized aptitudes. Refractive eye surgery first appeared on the market in the 1970′s. The need to have any additional theory of cataract surgery cost is quickly diminishing.

Laser surgery eyes cannot be made useful. I can’t believe I did this smack in the middle of this abysmal economic environment. I’m not going to lie to you with reference to laser eye cost like others have. This kind of adds insult to injury. I do guesstimate that I should take a scattershot approach. Here are some of the Colorado Laser eye Surgery secrets of the pros. Leave me a comment if you’re confused concerning kremer Laser Eye Center. It’ll build character. I’ll argue why this is completely false. They must keep your eyes peeled. You need to spend as little shekels as possible on your vision correction surgeon so that you have shekels left over for your Laser Eye Vision Correction. This is easy to use that software. It doesn’t matter if it’s your own eye surgery center or somebody else’s. There are more long-term speed bumps for Colorado Laser eye Surgery. The right Colorado Laser eye Surgery is paramount. This is really a strange phenomenon.

These conditions show a situation that favors buyers. I didn’t decide on this until the last split second yet perhaps I have unfair competition.

I make extensive modification to Colorado Laser eye Surgery.

What is Lasik Surgery – Who Should Undergo the Lasik Surgery?

Many people using eyeglasses or contacts everyday can now rely on the fast growing Lasik surgery. As usual, there are good and bad candidates for this surgery whose aim is to correct impaired vision. Hence, the question that raises the need for an accurate definition of good qualifications of Lasik patients.

In order to be considered as a good candidate of Lasik surgery, there are some rules you will need to abide by. First of all, you should be over eighteen years old. You should also a current and valid prescription for eyeglasses or contacts. You should not be affected by some diseases including eye diseases.

As already stated any Lasik patients should be adult and should in possession of a prescription for at least two years. Teenagers experience too many variations in their eyes making them a bad candidate for Lasik. Another criterion is a stable eyeglass or contact prescription not older than two years prior to the surgery. This precaution will make sure that the eyes are in a steady state otherwise it can seriously hinder the outcome of the surgery.

It is also a requirement that Lasik Candidates should not have suffered from any eye condition. These include nearsightedness, astigmatism, farsightedness or a combination of any of these anomalies. Also, good candidates of Lasik should have an appropriate corneal thickness in order to help the creation of a correct flap to simulate the depth. Pupils should not expand over a range exceeding seven millimeters in the darkness. This is usually an indicator of the likes of halos or glare.

Furthermore it is required to any good candidates that any previous disease contracted in the past should not affect the patient. This includes any previous surgery related to the eyes or not that could hinder the outcome or the healing process of the surgery. A good candidate should not have any herpes infection in the eye because Lasik can bring about a similar problem. Good candidates should not experience any autoimmune diseases such as Lupus, Hepatitis or Crohn’s disease.

Moreover, good candidates should not have any eye diseases for at least one year before the surgery is supposed to take place. Also, the cornea should not be scarred. Good candidates should not suffer from the dry eyes syndrome because it can be worse after the Lasik surgery. Pregnant women are prohibited to undergo the Lasik surgery due to the high fluctuations in their hormone levels. Patients suffering from the following diseases should not undergo the Lasik surgery: cataracts, advanced glaucoma, corneal disease, corneal thinning disorders or other pre-existing eye diseases.

You should always remind yourself that Lasik surgery is designed to help improve your vision. Therefore it may help to reduce the dependency on eyeglasses and contacts. You may experience the case in which your dependency on these tools. Some patients may have their problems sorted after the surgery but you should bear in mind that others are not as things can get worse. You should remember that this is not a perfect surgery. Statistics show that most patients experience an improved vision and others have an improvement factor of 20/40 or even better after the Lasik surgery.

You should also remember that surgery is not risk-free. Good candidates should fully understand those risks and have good expectations. Otherwise you are definitely not a good candidate of Lasik surgery. Good candidates should make sure they understand how the surgery works and the benefits before undergoing the surgery. Good candidates should also fully understand the risks before deciding to undergo the surgery.

Any patients intending to undergo the surgery should double check with their eye practitioner and have a good understanding of the benefits and drawbacks of the surgery.
