The Horror Stories About Lasik Surgery: The Truth

You might have come across websites that are full with experiences of patients who had developed complication post LASIK surgery. What should you make of it. Well, it is a fact that LASIK surgery, as any other surgery can result in a few complications. But what you need to know is what is the probability of this surgery going wrong.

And you would be happy to know that is today one of the safest operations to undergo with less than 5% of cases causing post-operative complications. And this number is going down by the day as much better and more advanced technology is introduced.

So what can you conclude about the websites. Well, hard as it may seem to believe, most of these sites are developed and maintained by lawyers who fight cases for patients who have had complications after this surgery. We have earlier mentioned that about 5% of the patients do actually have post-operative complications. The lawyers, who specialize in this area would want to know about these patients. The reason is simple. They would try and contact the particular patient to fight the case for him or her. If the case is won, the lawyer gets 40% of the settlement money as his share.

Now with so many patients undergoing this surgery all over the country it would be difficult for any lawyer to trace just those 5% who have had it bad. Through the website they get their contacts. Usually when you would want to post a story you would be requested to submit your contact details. That is from where the lawyer gets your contact numbers and everything and they will soon be on your trail.

So even though most of the stories on these websites are true, they only present a lopsided view of the entire thing. They don’t tell you about the amazing success rate of the operation on the whole or the modern and advanced surgical procedures that are coming up which are further reducing the risks of a eye operation.

So it is because of the business interest of a few individuals that you come across websites that are solely dedicated to the complications. The real situation is nowhere close to the picture you get from these websites. It would be advisable to talk to the person who really know and form an opinion on what they have to say.

he or she has to be atleast 22 year completed. only at this stage total skull developed.

  4. Ty Lotts Says:

I suppose it is theoretically possible, but you’re never going to find a doctor who is willing to do it. The surgery actually "shaves" off a portion of your cornea, and any decent doctor is going to insist on taking off the minimum amount required to obtain good vision.

  5. Ettie Anspach Says:

yes, but glasses or contacts can. They are safer and a lot less risky
