Intralase Amo Laser

Recent advances in LASIK technology have greatly improved the results of these procedures. Modern LASIK techniques and technology ensure that your procedure will be performed with the highest levels of safety and a minimal risk of complications.

One technological innovation which has had the greatest impact on the success rate of Lasik Procedures is the IntraLase laser by Abbott Medical Optics.

What is IntraLase Technology?

The IntraLase AMO laser enables your ophthalmologist to exert greater precision over the creation of the corneal flap. Early LASIK procedures used a microkeratome blade to cut the corneal flap. Since this is a hand-held steel blade, it introduced the possibility of human error, increasing your chances of complications.

IntraLase technology eliminates the need for a microkeratome blade in the creation of your corneal flap. It employs rapid, small pulses of laser light to generate a precise, uniform flap. Computer software is used to program the precise dimensions needed for your flap, making this part of your procedure much safer and more accurate.

Once the IntraLase laser has created the corneal flap, your laser eye surgeon can easily fold it back to reshape your cornea using an excimer laser.

Benefits of IntraLase

The greatest benefit of IntraLase technology is that it makes your Lasik Procedure 100% blade free. By eliminating the use of a metal blade, your surgery becomes safer and more precise. Also, it reduces the chance of higher order aberrations, such as glare, halos, and starbursts, commonly associated with procedures using a microkeratome blade.

Other benefits include:

  • Greater precision resulting in a smoother corneal surface
  • Improved results and a greater likelihood of achieving 20/20 vision
  • Reduced corneal scarring
  • A more customized procedure, leading to a corneal flap designed to address the unique contours of your cornea
  • Reduced chance of complications
  • Improved safety

Don’t Settle for Outdated Technology

When searching for the right LASIK surgeon, make sure to ask him what technology he uses to cut the corneal flap. Some surgeons still use a microkeratome blade to create the flap. While you will save money on your procedure by opting for a surgeon who uses a microkeratome blade, you increase your chances of complications and higher order aberrations. You are also less likely to achieve 20/20 vision from your LASIK procedure.

It is important to work with a surgeon who uses the latest and best Lasik Technology to ensure the highest quality results. By choosing a surgeon who uses IntraLase technology, you will greatly improve the outcome of your procedure. IntraLase may be a bit more expensive, but you can’t put a price on good vision.

I just do not trust it, I have thought about getting it done, but I don’t have confidence in it at all, if it goes wrong you are buggered.

Yes, I had Lasik Eye Surgery about 3 years ago. I absolutely love it. It is the best feeling to be able to wake up and see everything without having to squint and search for your glasses or contacts. It isnt a painful procedure either. I found it very interesting to watch them do it. I say, if you can do it, you should definately go ahead and get it done.

Laser Eye Surgery would be the best.
