   You have to be 18 for regular lasik and 21 for CustomVue. Sometimes, they can do it earlier at around 16 in special cases. For lasik you need to have a stable prescription for at least a year to be a candidate and most peoples eyes are done growing around 18. Give the lasik place a call to make sure. But, I doubt they will do it on a 12 yr old. There is some kind of lens that can be put in the eye like a permanent contact too….but I’m not really sure about the age for that, or what it’s called.    It would seem that ideally axial myopia would be corrected by making the eyeball shorter. We don’t really have any way to do that. LASIK or other refractive procedures work on any kind of myopia. They also handle astigmatism.
