Lasik Severe Myopia

What’s the purpose of needing glasses if they don’t improve your eyesight?

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 14 and the older I’ve gotten, the more my eyes have been dependent on glasses. I’m to the point where I have severe myopia and a eye doctor told me my eyes were so bad that Lasik Surgery wouldn’t be able to correct my vision. I’m now at that bifocal stage and I’m not even in my prime!! So what’s the purpose of needing glasses or contacts if they don’t improve your eyesight?

To put this very simply: The purpose of correction (contact lenses/eyeglasses) is to help you see clearer while you are wearing them.

The reason why you have developed a refractive error (myopia) is mostly due to genetics…. corrective devices play no role in this!
Wearing eyeglasses/contacts do not improve or worsen vision….. they simply correct your vision while wearing them!!!!!
That is the purpose so people with poor vision can see!!
In my opinion that is a pretty significant purpose…. if you think about it without your glasses/contacts how would you see or function through everyday life tasks ???

    you are awake the newer ones have a way to be more precise incase your eye moves a little – there is always a chance of blindness – check wiht local places it varies from location to location

    tell ur concerns to the doctor so they can put u at ease! I think u are normal to be freaking out..who wouldn’t! lol. If u go to a doctor that has experience and is certified in what they have done then u have nothing to worry about!!! In the mean time if u really want to know the doctors credientials i think u can ask or call etc. Also in the mean time stop filling ur head with negative thoughts!!!!!! Think positive and just breathe and relax :) And if u r religious pray before u go.

    It’s a man’s world out there. Have you heard the saying "Shake your money maker?" You shake eyes and it don’t mean a thing. Shake your boobs and you got my attention.Unfortunately, boob jobs are higher demand than eye jobs. It’s a business thing. They go where they can make a profit with less the risk.
