Contacts to correct near sightedness?

I have read more than once that there is a special contact that may correct vision of people that are nearsighted. I am near sighted and considering Lasik, my eye doc states the contacts will correct one problem, but create another one. But, it is my understanding that when i have lasik, my nearsight will not be as good and i will most likely need reading glasses. I am 44 and have excellent nearsight! If you have tried the contact, let me know your results! Thanks!
Yes I have been told i will then need reading glasses…but isn’t that the same result for the contacts? the eye docs say some day soon i am going to need reading glasses anyway, so i am just trying to decide…and also, if i thought i could get the same results from the contacts which are less expensive..i would go that way….
Thanks for the great answers. i have dry eyes and allergies which makes for itchy contact wearing…again why i am seeking something different.

if you are 44 and nearsighted, and you Get Lasik….

you will most likely need reading glasses. that is absolutely true.

Once again, it depends. My wife had the surgery last summer, and she was given a week off. They take really good care of you in the military regardless of what type of surgery you have. There is a process to go through, just as there is with anything in the military. You have to fill out the necessary paperwork and go through your chain of command. Once the paperwork is done, the doctors give you a pre-surgery evaluation to determine whether or not you are a good candidate for the surgery. If the evaluation goes well, they give u a date for your surgery and the rest is history.
