Can I pay off a medical loan with a FSA?

I am trying to figure out my 2008 Medical FSA account funding. I have an outstanding medical loan for LASIK of about 1500. Can I pay off that loan with my FSA?

You can pay on the loan with funds from the FSA only for medical expenses received that year. You cannot use the FSA to pay interest on the loan. So no, you cannot use 2008 contributions to pay for any expenses incurred before 2008.

I had ptosis of the eyelids and my eyelids covered half my pupils. I had the surgery and yes my eyes did look different. My son said I looked scared. He had seen me for the past 39 yrs peeking thru my eyelids. I can now wear eye makeup and who cares what people think. I can see and that is what matters. I fully recommend the surgery for the sake of sight.Since learning to use eye makeup correctly I have improved on my technique and my eyes actually look so much better.

I had Laser Eye Surgery to improve my short sightedness and still had improvement ongoing for the following six months. Don’t give up. Remember to still go for your regular checkups with the specialist who did the surgery and explain what is happening. He/She may well have an idea whether it would go away or not. I know that after my surgery my eyes became very light sensative, dark glasses and night driving glasses have helped tremendously. Good luck and I hope the world is a brighter place.

My opinion is that if anyone is going to operate on my only two eyes, there has to be an awfully good reason for it. Getting rid of glasses is not one of them.
