Lasik Flap Never Heals

Lasik Eye Surgury rumors and questions?

I hear a lot of pros and cons about Lasik Eye Surgery, my main question is, is it true that the eye flap never heals once cut for the surgery?

The eye flap does heal over time, but because there is no active blood supply to that part of the eye, it does not heal very quickly. It is like when people scratch their cornea…it takes some time to heal, but eventually it will, and the pain will go away. Unlike a corneal abrasion however, you can’t just put a contact lens over it as a “band aid.” Instead you have to keep your eyes well hydrated with drops during the day, and use special lubricating drops at night and an eye patch to make sure you don’t bump your eye and dislodge the flap until it has a chance to start healing.

If you have more questions about this, it really is best to ask your optometrist or ophthalmologist.
