Lasik Dizziness

Dizziness after putting in contacts?

I went to the optometrist to get my first pair of contacts today.. But after the doctor put them in my eye, my ears started ringing, and shortly thereafter my body felt numb and it felt like I could barely walk, accompanied by a sour stomach. I’m not sure if it was just a psychological thing, or not, but I felt sick to my stomach. I need to get contacts, because I cannot wear glasses while dancing, and I cannot see without them.. So I don’t know if I should just skip contacts and try Lasik Eye Surgery, or just go without seeing.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated (:.

You had an emotional reaction to the contacts on your eyes called a Vaso Vagal reaction. In this reaction a stressor (the contacts) causes a rapid dilation of the blood vessels throughout the body. This causes blood in the brain to suddenly start draining down and pooling into your lower extremities such as your legs. As the brain loses blood volume then a series of things are possible to notice. You can get dizzy, nauseated, hear ringing, numbness, loss in vision, and you can even pass out if enough blood leaves the brain. It is possible that over time you may not be as stressed by the presence of the contacts and, if so, these symptoms will cease.

You need to save a little every pay period. You will have the joy of anticipating how great it will be not to need glasses or contacts during the time you are saving and you will be more motivated to work a second job or over time and to skip luxuries. If you borrow money and decide that you can’t afford it, you can’t return your LASIK or sell it used. When you have a couple of thousand dollars in your LASIK account, visit some Lasik Centers with good reputations, have an evaluation and find out how much more you need to save.
