Lasik Complications Statistics

Is LASIK a good idea (looking for personal experience)?

I have read countless articles that play with statistics to get their point across. I am looking for actual, human experiences to figure out whether I want to have LASIK performed or not.

Have you or someone you know had LASIK? Did you have complications? Would you recommend LASIK?

i’ve known 2 people that had Lasik; Both of them would definitely recommend it. Neither of them have had any problems and both wore Coke bottle glasses for years. Now they only wear reading glasses as needed.

    YES! Most doctors in their right mind won’t do it until a person is 18 or even 21. I had a friend that did it at 18 and now at 25 her eyes are worse again. They will just end up getting worse.

    I know lots of people who have had this surgery. You can wear regular masacara in a few weeks.

    See http://healthguide.howstuffworks.com/lasik-eye-surgery-picture.htm In a nutshell, it reshapes the cornea of the eye, i.e. the film over the front of the eye that does a lot of work bending incoming light into the eye correctly. Afaik, the eyes shouldn’t get worse again, except the normal effects of age on eyesight, since the cornea won’t reshape itself.

    Wow.. Poor kid. I’d wait until he was 18. We don’t know the long term effects of these eye surgeries yet, you could be condemning him to serious issues 30 or 40 years down the road.

    I had lasik done 7yrs ago no problems is the best thing i have done i was so tired wearing contact is it worth it . I have few friends they have lasik Laser Eye Surgery done no problems.After surgery u have to wear shades ONE DAY . I have surgery on a Sat. i was back to work Monday..It not painful is uncomfortable during surgery it last only about 10 minutes
