lasik better than 20 20
Better than 20/20 but still have a prescription – what does that mean?

I had LASIK and had my eyes tested a few days after. Using the eye chart, I could read the 20/10 line without correction (struggled with the worse eye but easy with the better eye/both eyes). they measured my prescription and it is still -0.5 and -0.25. I can see now as clearly (if not marginally better) as I could before the op with my contact lenses in so I’m confused – how can my eyesight be better than 20/20 and my prescription not be 0? I realise that they are different scales but I always thought that 20/20 was great and anything better was perfect/rare.
How can I see as well as I could with correction? I thought that the idea of contact lenses/glasses was to compensate exactly for your prescription, so that your vision with correction was equivalent to a ’0′ prescription – if mine is slightly off ’0′ now, I would have expected it to be worse than perfect corrected vision before the op
thanks

That question would be best answered by the person who gave you the prescription. Maybe something else was found during your exam.
