Blade or Blade Free Lasik?
What’s better blade or blade free lasik?
I had the blade procedure done and had no problems. The biggest 2 risks of the blade procedure is that 1) the flap gets cut off entirely or 2) the blade stops working before finished. The laser procedure while lacking a blade to break down can still cause the same complications, just not as often. The biggest drawback is that it’s more expensive.
Like I said though, I had the blade procedure and didn’t have any problems.

I believe that it is possible. However, you can’t have any Laser Eye Surgery. If you have Lasik which is popular now they will not let you. You must get PKG, sometimes called Bladeless Lasik. The military actually pays for this surgery and performs it at Bethesda on the East Coast, somewhere else on the west. The difference is that in lasik the cornea is cut and then reattached after the lasering. Because of the pressures on the eye during flying this can actually open back up. In PKG they rub the cornea off before lasering. They then allow the cornea to heal itself underneath a contact lens. This method is actually safer and has less side effects. The reason that Lasik is so much more popular is that the healing time is only a matter of hours, whereas it is about a week for PKG. I suggest doing a lot of research and do not talk to a recruiter, they won’t know what they are talking about. Talk to an admissions officer for the Air Force Aceademy, they will have a better idea.

The answer is still no, I am afraid other than extending your free prescriptions for an additional year you have no other entitlement above any other NHS patient, why should you!
